TWO people were injured when two cars were in collision in Laneshaw Bridge. And one of the cars struck a lamp post and sent it flying into the front of a cottage, causing damage.

The accident happened on Friday evening on Keighley Road. A red Vauxhall Corsa was being parked and a passing silver Vauxhall Zafira was in collision with it.

The Corsa was driven by Lindsay Harmson, whose daughter Megan Wright, aged three, suffered a facial cut and bruised eye but did not need hospital treatment. Lindsay said: “I am glad my daughter wasn’t badly injured in the accident.”

The car which hit the street light was driven by a 34-year-old woman from Colne. She suffered back pain and a sore arm and was taken to Airedale Hospital by car for a check-up.

The lamp post was struck and hit the top end of a cottage, causing damage to the frontage of the stone roof, before lying on the pavement. Fire crews, ambulances and police were called to the scene. The main road was closed from Cotton Tree Lane to the heart of Laneshaw Bridge one way for about an hour, while traffic was slowed in the other direction.
