POLICE are appealing for information after a man was assaulted in Colne last month.

At around 4-50 p.m. on May 23rd, two vehicles, a black Vauxhall Vectra and a black Nissan Navara were travelling along Vivary Way in Colne through heavy traffic when they came to a standstill in the traffic near to the roundabout at North Valley Road.

At this point, both drivers and one passenger got out of their cars and the three of them became involved in a verbal altercation. The victim was then head butted and punched before falling to the floor and being kicked in the head. The two other men then walked back to their car and left the scene.

The victim suffered a cut to his head for which he received hospital treatment and officers investigating the assault are urging anyone who may have witnessed the assault and have not yet spoken to police to contact them.

PC Sarra Slater said; “This was a completely unnecessary and vicious assault which happened at a peak time when the roads were very busy and so I would urge anyone who saw what happened to get in touch.”

Anyone with any information is asked to call police on the new non-emergency number 101 or alternatively, information can be passed to the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or on-line at Crimestoppers-uk.org.

No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court.
