COLNE managed to get half of their double-header weekend completed as rain once again swept across the Lancashire League.

Enfield wrapped up a five-wicket win at home to Colne just after 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Professional Werner Coetsee took 6-15, passing 50 wickets for the season, and Hassan Fazal 3-51 to bowl Colne out for 111.

Visiting professional Shadley van Schalkwyk slammed 44 from just 24 balls, hitting 42 from his first 14 balls. He hit five sixes and a couple of fours but got little support with only Khurram Nazir (12), Nathan Whitehead (10) and Joel Duerden (10) making double figures of the amateurs. Nasser Hussain made 36 but Enfield were struggling on 57-4 when Chris Maudsley (22 not out) and Ash Gowers (nine) put on 38 for the 5th wicket to ensure maximum points for Enfield.

On the Sunday, Burnley were 56-4 at Colne in reply to the home side’s 171-9. Shadley van Schalkwyk and Whitehead both made 27, Sam Tillotson 23 and Matt Wilson 30 in Colne’s 171-9 with Bharat Tripathi taking 3-34 and professional Adnan Rasool 3-57. Chris Burton claimed four victims behind the sticks.

Khurram Nazir took 2-6 with Tripathi making 16 and Burton 14 in Burnley’s reply which ended just eight balls short of the 20 overs needed to constitute a match

Colne play their rescheduled game away to Rishton on Saturday and are away to East Lancs on Sunday.
