NELSON cricket fans will be hoping for clearer skies come the weekend.

Rain put paid to their games against Rishton and Lowerhouse at the weekend but there will hopefully be plenty of action for cricket lovers over the coming days.

As well as Nelson hosting Bacup on Sunday, two other big games are taking place at Seedhill, today and tomorrow.

Today, Pendle District Under 15s are playing the Bolton Association Under 15s in the quarter finals of the Ainsworth Trophy. Wickets pitched at 10-30 a.m. for a 50 overs per side game.

“ As last year, we find ourselves at this stage competing against far bigger districts than ours, when we only select from Nelson, Colne, Barnoldswick and Earby”, said coach Granville Thompson. “It is a credit to all our clubs, and the boys themselves, that we have reached the quarter final where Bolton, with their County stars, will provide a very stern test”.

Tomorrow, the County Ladies will be playing at Seedhill, when Cheshire Ladies are the visitors.

A 50 overs per side game will start at 11am, with the usual bar and tea room facilities open for most of the day.
