SPORTS players in Pendle are to benefit from a National Lottery award to help carry out much-needed refurbishments to the changing rooms at Colne and Nelson Rugby Union Football Club.
The club is receiving £49,440 through Sports England’s Inspired Legacies Olympic Fund to make the changing room area at Holt House multi-use, so they can have home and away, adult and child, and male and female games taking place at the same time.
A small part of the changing room block will be used to develop a health studio for cardiovascular, resistance and general fitness improvement across a range of sports.
News of the grant was welcomed by Pendle MP Andrew Stephenson, who said: “This is brilliant news for Colne and Nelson Rugby Club. I supported their bid to Sport England and was delighted for Chris Buck and all the team at Holt House when I heard the news.
“This will provide a real lasting legacy of the Olympics for Colne and the surrounding area.”
The money is part of a £2.4m. handout to 46 community sports clubs across the North-West.
Sport England is inviting more clubs to bid for funding in the next £10m. franchise of lottery investment between Monday of next week and September 17th. Details of how to apply can be found at {http://www.sportengland.org/inspired|www.sportengland.org/inspired}.
