Margaret goes ace at Marsden Park!

THE highlight of Presidents Fred and Pauline Greenwood’s day at Marsden Park, was a hole in one for Margaret Frankland on the Saturday 16th - 182-yard par 3.

Men’s winner was Martin Heap (76-13-63), from Christian Anderson (76-12-64), with James Bulcock (85-20-65) third. Best gross was Nathan Lingard’s 73, on a card play-off.

Nearest the pin on the 16th was Andrew Tootle, and nearest in two on the 18th was Heap.

Ladies’ winner was Frankland with 40 points, from Lady Captain Wendy Brearley, who was second on the card from Jane McGregor with 30 points. Nearest the pin on the 11th was McGregor, who was also nearest in two on the 13th.

Junior winner was Tyler Baxter with 36 points, ahead of Thomas Nicholson (35 points). Nearest the pin on the 11th was Jamie Scott.

• ANNE Black, Bev Wellock and Eva Pinder teamed up to win the Texas Scramble at Colne Golf Club, six shots ahead of Anne Bradbury, Jean Hook and Tina Fishwick, whose score of 73.1 was .8 shots ahead of Cheryl Barnes, Linda Ryder and Freda Lester.

Popular long-time member Liz Reddy won her first board competition - the Margaret Birtwistle Trophy - on a card play-off from Ingrid Massie with a score of -1, with Bev Wellock (-2) third.

The 2012 Nelson Salver, donated by Mrs Stiff in 1969, was won by the ladies from Colne, who thwarted the Nelson ladies’ hat-trick by winning 5-2 at Law Farm.

The concluding round of the Foulds Cup 36-hole competition was played at Colne on Saturday.

Paul Tems’ 77-13-64 won on the day, to seal overall victory with 135.

Dereck Harker was second with 86-20-66, with Kevin Valentine third (78-12-66).

Second over 36 holes was Matthew Birt (136), with Howard Proctor third (138).
