TAXI firms should be allowed to use spaces on two public car parks in Colne during the evenings, members of Pendle Council’s Colne and District Committee agreed.
Crown and Greenline Taxis were given permission to use three spaces on the Midgley Street car park between 9am on Saturday until 2am on Monday, while Escort Taxis can now use eight spaces on the Stanley Street car park between 6pm and midnight each evening.
Reports to councillors said the moves would provide off-street parking for the taxi companies at busy times and provide opportunities for the expansioon of the businesses.
There would be sufficient spaces left on both car parks when the parked taxis were taken into account, said the reports.
