NELSON could be on the hunt for a new manager after Michael Morrison and Robert Grimes’s futures were left up in the air.

Chairman Fayyaz Ahmed confirmed that the duo had “parted company” with the Victoria Park club following Saturday’s NWC First Division 4-2 defeat to Chadderton at the weekend.

The reason for the pair’s departure is yet unknown, but first team coach Shadab Iftikhar will take charge of first team affairs for tomorrow’s home fixture against Daisy Hill.

A club spokesperson said: “Regrettably Michael and Robert have parted company with Nelson Football Club.

“All parties involved are deeply disappointed with the situation, but it is one that we hope can be resolved amicably so the club can continue to move forward.

“Whatever is decided will be in the best interests of Nelson FC. Hopefully everything will be forgotten for tomorrow’s fixture and football will take priority.

“We need to keep going with what we set out to do for this club.”

On the field the Blues have slipped in form somewhat.

After picking up 13 points from five games at the start of the new campaign, Nelson have fallen to four defeats from their last five fixtures.

A 3-2 defeat to Wigan Robin Park in the FA Carslberg Vase sparked the poor run and sandwiched in-between the loss to Chadderton was a stalemate with West Didsbury and Chorlton and further losses to Ashton Town and Rochdale Town.

Nelson, who now sit 12th with 11 points from seven games, will now hope to get back to winning ways when they entertain Daisy Hill at Little Wembley tomorrow, kick-off 3 p.m.
