COLNE hit 10 goals over the week - with Jay Hart netting seven - in two crushing wins.
The Reds followed up Saturday’s 5-0 win at AFC Blackpool with a repeat at home top Silsden on Tuesday night.
Against Silsden, the game began in a lively end-to-end exchange when the visitors’ Daniel Bryan shot just wide from a good opening. And at the other end, Mark Coyne saw his shot come back off the post after a one-on-one.
The Reds took the lead after eight minutes when Jimmy Crorken’s through ball released Hart on the left, and he slipped the ball past the keeper from a tight angle.
Eleven minutes later, Colne doubled their lead when Hart was brought down on the edge of the area and found the net with a quickly-taken free kick.
Silsden almost reduced the deficit after 26 minutes when Michael Garrod followed up on a half clearance and his shot was turned against the underside of the bar by Chris Thompson before being cleared.
Crorken then saw his shot pushed round the post by Silsden keeper Edward Hall.
The Reds went further ahead after 33 minutes when Ashley Carter finished off a flowing move with a powerful diagonal shot into the roof of the net.
As Colne continued to press forward in the second half, Coyne again struck the woodwork with his header at the far post from a corner. But the Reds were not to be denied and after 56 minutes, Dominic Craig brought the ball out of defence before finding Hart to the left of the area, who turned inside his man and rifled a right foot shot into the top corner.
Silsden came back strongly in an effort to salvage pride but found the Colne defence in uncompromising mood as Ben Hoskin cleared a shot off the line after 64 minutes and Thompson made a great save to turn a thunderbolt over.
Craig forced the Silsden keeper to push his shot wide and Hart blasted the rebound over from an angle.
And after 85 minutes, Colne stretched the defence with some good passing before Paddy O’Brien blasted a 25-yard shot that dipped into the top corner to complete the scoring.
On Saturday, Colne rocked Blackpool with a five-goal thrashing.
Unluckiest player was central defender Rick Winstanley who was injured in a tackle after only three minutes, but his replacement Tom Fowler proved more than capable and provided some excellent through balls.
Alongside Fowler, Hoskin and Scott Moore had great games in defence to stifle the Blackpool attack and provide a constant supply of accurate passes to the midfield.
Some good moves down the left wing from Ashley Carter created openings and Carter and Anthony McLoughlin both had shots just over.
After 18 minutes, Blackpool keeper Bobby Harris was forced into a good save when he pushed Hart’s free kick around the foot of the post.
On the half hour, Lloyd Balazs flashed a header wide of the Colne goal as Blackpool threatened on the break.
But as play switched to the other end, a goal-bound free kick by Hart was headed out of the goalmouth by a defender. The Reds had to wait until 40 minutes when a good through ball released Hart to shoot past Harris for a 1-0 lead at half time.
Colne continued to dominate after the break and Coyne got round the back of the defence but his low cross was cleared from the goalmouth.
After 53 minutes, Hoskin’s diagonal ball found Hart in the area to the right of goal and he was tripped as he turned inside the defender. Hart stepped up to convert the spot kick and double Colne’s lead.
Blackpool came close after 68 minutes when Ben Waddington’s free kick was deflected inches wide off the Reds defensive wall.
But Colne continued to pass the ball well with some open flowing football and Nathan Taylor saw his measured shot fly inches past the far post.
And the Reds’ third goal came after 71 minutes when Hart scored from close range after Taylor unselfishly laid the chance on for him.
Blackpool’s James Walker went down under pressure in the Colne penalty area but the referee waved away his claims for a penalty.
After 78 minutes Hart was on hand again to backheel the ball into the net for his fourth goal after great work by Dominic Craig in an end to end move as Colne pulled their opponents apart.
And Craig had his reward in the final minute when he cut in from the right wing and beat Harris with a left foot shot to round off a satisfying afternoon with Colne’s fifth goal.
Colne travel to meet Abbey Hey in the second round of the NWCFL Challenge Cup today, kick-off 3 p.m., and have no midweek fixture.
