FREEZING conditions caused a water main to burst in Colne this morning.
United Utilities have confirmed that one of their underground pipes on the A56 cracked due to the cold weather, and engineers are expected to fix the problem before 5pm.
Drivers reported seeing “water gushing” from the outside of the Duke of Lancaster pub, in Church Street, and travelling down Albert Road, on their journey to work.
Traffic was not affected, but pedestrians were seen to be taking alternative routes.
A Twitter user wrote: “Was sad to see a river flowing out of one of my favourite Colne pubs this morning.
“Hope they manage to fix the problem before xmas.”
United Utilies have stated that the water supply has not been affected by the burst.
