RIDERS from local club Cycle Sport Pendle have been well rewarded for a great season of Cyclo Cross.
The campaign finished at the weekend in Beacon Park Skelmersdale, after 16 races throughout the North West. The off road race series runs from September and is league based. Overall league winner in the Under 12s was Nathan Hawthorne from Nelson - a pupil at Fisher-More. CSP boys also won the Best Team award, with Jack Barlow from Trawden and Cory Edmondson from Nelson backing up Nathan for a great team effort.
Tilly Barlow, of Laneshawbridge C of E, was third overall in the girls’ Under 8s and there was an overall league win for Shannon Hawthorne of St John Southworth in the Under 10s’ girls. Georgia Savory was second overall in the Under 12s.
The boys’ Under 16s team took top honours, along with the Under 12s, for a CSP clean sweep. Colne rider, 15-year-old Oliver Peyton led the older boys in second place overall, with Earby riders Connor French and Bailey Payne the counting team riders.
Riding in the senior races was 19-year-old Martin Woffindin, who finished third overall and was first Under 23 rider.
And Karen Payton from Colne was second overall lady.
The club promoted one of the rounds in the grounds of West Craven High School back in October, sponsored by Hope Technology.
Peyton and Hawthorne were winners on the day but as impressive was the 30-rider CSP representation in all the races at the Barnoldswick round.
Club spokswoman, coach Kirsy Greyson said: “The club has raced from Windermere to Liverpool and our Orange CSP kit as been the most represented throughout the region.
“A big well done to all our riders and to parents who have backed the club to the hilt, we have had a great season”
