DONNING their Christmas hats and singing festive favourites, an army of family and friends gathered at Colne Market Hall this weekend to raise funds for Trawden’s “biggest little miracle”.
For the Neve family, 2012 has been one rollercoaster of a year, after Charlotte Neve (8) suffered a rare brain haemorrhage and a series of strokes around the Easter period.
The extent of the damage caused meant that when the West Street Community Primary School pupil came out of a coma for a second time, she was forced to re-learn everything.
But showing just how far she has come, Charlotte attended “Singalongalottie” full of Christmas cheer, interacting with shoppers, carol singing with “Lottie’s Army” and doing her bit to raise money for “Lottie Loo’s Get Well Wish” — a fund set up to help her through her recovery. She will spend Christmas day with members of her family, including her big sister, Megan Neve (12).
Talking to the Colne Times, Charlotte’s mum Leila Neve (32), who used to work in recruitment, before becoming Charlotte’s carer, said: “It was fantastic. It went really well, and we had loads of fun.
“Charlotte loved it, and was shaking her little bucket.
“People haven’t got much money at the minute and to see everybody come over and chuck a bit of change into the bucket was really sweet.”
The total amount raised from the “Singalongalottie” event is yet to be confirmed.
