Mother and son taken to hospital following M65 Colne crash

LANE One of the M65 has now been reopened following a two car crash in Colne.

Emergency services were called at around 12-20pm today (Wednesday) after a Citroën C3 and a Citroën C4 were involved in a rear-end shunt at the roundabout near to junction 14 at Colne, travelling eastbound.

Fire crews from Nelson and Colne attended the scene to cut the roof off one of the cars, which was carrying a mother and son from Accrington.

The mother is believed to have minor spinal injuries, and was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital.

Her son, and another motorist were also taken to hospital as a precautionary measure.

Watch manager Ed Hargreaves said: “It was a road traffic accident involving two cars.

“Our role in the whole operation was to assist the paramedics in removing one of the passengers out of one of the vehicles.

“There were eight firefighters who were there for an hour.”
