Burnley and Pendle Masters darts competition starts on Thursday

THE second annual Burnley and Pendle Masters darts competition gets underway on Thursday.

Over the next two months, the four area qualifiers will be decided, who will then face their Burnley counterparts, to find out who will be this year’s successor to Graham Lalor of Burnley, as the Burnley and Pendle Grand Masters champion.

All of the games are best of three, play down to two qualifiers from each venue.

The draw is: Colne Dressers - P. Gerrard v P. Jackson; R. Proctor v A. Butterworth; A. Gardner v T. Clarke; D. Rebanks v S. Maher; Jack Mansfield v D. Hargreaves; G. Ingham v A. Hall. Official: Alan Hall.

Crown - Whitaker v M. Lambert; P. Slade v S. Leatham; S. Lyle v J. Crabtree Jnr; Trevor Rebanks v J. Whittaker; C. Farrell v S. Spencer; M. Ingham v J. Hodgson. Official: Mick Lambert.

Carters - M. Healey v T. Bradley; P. Whitehead v G. Hooper; M. White v T. Nicholas; I. Hall v F. Rankin; G. Hoggarth v John Mansfield; G. Gerrard v A. McCall. Official: Mick Healey.

Colne Legion - R. Boote v G. Johnson; R. Hoggarth v C. Bevan; T. Havens or S. Firmstone v A. Kelly; T. Salisbury v G. Thompson; D. Souter v S. Routledge. Official: David Souter.

l IN The A. Rollinson and Son Pendle Darts League Premier Division, Gary Hooper threw 180 twice and six 140s for Crown A as they beat Red Lion A 19-8.

They share top spot with their B team who beat Strategy 14-10, with John Mansfield hitting 180 and Gary Thompson checking on 155 for the Crown. Trawden Arms won their first game of the season, beating Earby Station 15-9.

In the First Division, Prince of Wales player Alan Young hit a maximum and Trev Salisbury checked on 106 in their 18-6 win over Poultry.

In the Second Division, Rising Sun made it seven out of seven as they beat Legion B 13-11, while second place Snooker Club only managed a draw with Legion Veterans.

Golden Ball won their first game, beating Shooters 17-7, for whom P. Whitehead hit a maximum and Dave Greenwood and S. Ridding both threw two 140s, with Danny Kegg hitting one 140.

Third Divisions leaders Morris Dancers beat Colne Dressers C 20-4, Union Exchange beat Rugby Club 16-8, with K. Robinson throwing 140 and 125.

Carters C’s K. Ann hit 140 as they beat Greyhound 14-10, Colne Dressers B beat Red Lion B 16-8, Rob Brown hitting 160 and 133.

Teams are reminded that the next meeting is on Tuesday at the Carters.
