ON-LOAN forward Josh McQuoid admits his stay at Turf Moor will be a fleeting one.
But he hopes to propel the Clarets towards the play-offs before returning to Millwall.
The 22-year-old was snapped up on a 93-day loan from the Lions on Friday in time to make his debut as a half-time substitute in the goal-less draw with Derby the following day.
And the former Bournemouth man caught the eye, particularly late in the game as he helped craft two chances as Burnley searched in vain for the breakthrough.
It has been a frustrating time for him at The Den since a £500,000 move last season, scoring only once and seeing his opportunities limited so far this term, but the Northern Ireland international sees it as a win-win situation at Turf Moor: “It’s just a loan.
“I just want to play as much football as I can and hopefully get some goals and help the team push up the league.
“I see my future at Millwall.”
He is relishing linking up again with Eddie Howe and Jason Tindall - as well as the likes of Marvin Bartley and Danny Ings in a growing former Bournnemouth contingent: “It got mentioned to me on Thursday and later on I got a phonecall and drove up here.
“I was happy to come here.
“I know the manager quite well and felt it would the right move for me.
“Eddie and Jason have helped me a lot in my career, so it is nice to link up with them again.
“I haven’t had many managers in my time, but out of the managers I have had Eddie is good at working with everybody, old and young, but he brings the best out of the young lads especially.
“He helps you every day in training, he stays out after and if he thinks there’s something you can work on he’ll help you with that.”
And he believes Burnley have a great chance of being in the chase for a top six place: “Out of the sides I’ve seen and played against, Burnley are up there with the best.
“They have a good chance of figuring in the play-offs at the end of the season and going all the way.”
Now McQuoid gets a chance to bed in, with the next game not until a week tonight at Nottingham Forest, and he is eager for more action: “There was a lot of pressure on me at Millwall, but there is less on me now that I’ve come here because I can settle in and he’ll work with me to try to improve me and get fitness and match time.
“Hopefully I can do well for Burnley.”
And he looked back on a frustrating afternoon against Derby: “I haven’t played in a while and it was a tough game to come into with both teams fighting for play-off positions.
“But it was a good game, I enjoyed it.
“There were a lot of chances, we were unlucky. The weather didn’t help.
“As long as you get the chances that’s the main thing because sooner or later they’re bound to go in.”
McQuoid takes over the number 19 shirt worn by another former Bournemouth man, Sam Vokes, who returned to Wolves after the win at Middlesbrough after his loan expired.
The pair and friends, and McQuoid said: “I spoke to Sam while he was here.
“We’re actually from the same place and grew up together.
“He liked it here and recommended it to me.
“I phoned him up and told him I’ve nicked his (shirt) number already!”
