A THIEF who stole a takeaway charity box attacked the shop boss when he went to get it back, a court was told.
Colin George Bamber headbutted Queyen Ha, owner of Rau Senh, leaving him injured in the incident at Brierfield on January 3rd, Pennine magistrates heard.
The hearing was told chef Mr Ha had been assaulted after he challenged Bamber, who had previous convictions for assault. The victim suffered a badly swollen face and couldn’t see out of his eye, which would have affected his work.
Bamber (26), of Wesley Street, Brierfield, admitted theft and assault by beating. The defendant, who was in breach of a conditional discharge for a public order offence, was given a community order with 12 months’ supervision.
