POPULAR Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy is coming to Colne for World Book Day.
The critically and commercially successful author will be at Colne Library on March 7th, from 7-30pm.
The joint event with Time to Read will see the poet reading her own poems, including “The Lancashire Witches” — the poem commissioned by Lancashire arts organisation Green Close, to mark the 400th anniversary of the 1612 Lancashire Witch
Trials.
There will also be a reading of “The Bees”, which was chosen as part of the North West “Poetry Places” promotion.
The poetry will be performed in bite-size chunks and will be punctuated by musical interludes from versatile musician John Sampson.
A library spokesman said: “We hope you will come along to discover that libraries really are the perfect place for poetry.”
