ONE of Nelson’s key routes - Scotland Road - is to be closed for weeks.
United Utilities has announced it will be blocked from mid-February until probably the end of April because of sewer work to stop flooding.
They will be improving the sewer beneath the road, and that means the stretch between Fountain Street and Clayton Street will be closed off.
They suggest the best alternative route would be via Reedyford Road and Leeds Road.
United Utilities project co-ordinator John Bryon said: “We are holding a public exhibition, so you can come along and speak to a member of our project team and find out what we will be doing and how it will impact on you.
“The exhibition will be held at Nelson Public Library, Market Street, on Monday, January 30th, from 3-30 to 7 p.m.
“I would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience this essential work may cause and thank you for your patience”
Local homes and firms have been provided a letter by United Utilities to let them know what is going on.
