PENDLE Forest Veterans made it into the next round of the Plate Knockout competition after beating Oldham.

From the whistle Forest were the better team, passing the ball quickly and accurately throughout the field.

Forest scored their first goal through an attack down the right with Waters and Karen Nuttall playing one and two touch hockey and sending the ball to Cath Hutchinson who pushed the ball in. The score stayed 1 -0 to half time.

At the start of the second half it was clear that Oldham had upped their game and when they earned themselves a penalty corner they fired home to make the match level before then taking the lead.

It took a penalty corner in the last five minutes for Forest to score. Judith Hind hit out to Waters who blasted the ball goalwards, Hind latched on to it and deflected it into the back of the net.

Forest took the game in “golden goal” extra time courtesy of a goal from Hutchinson.
