SEVEN Pendle schools have so far closed their doors for the day due to snow.
Colne Christ Church Primary School, Colne Park Primary School Hendon Brook School, Pendle View Primary School, Trawden Forest Primary School, Colne Primet High School and Roughlee Church of England Primary School have all been forced to cancel classes due to the adverse weather conditions. No school closures have yet been announced in Burnley.
Gritters have been out in force overnight, but Will Lang, chief forecaster at the Met Office, has warned drivers to remain “prepared for further disruption as we head through the next few days.”
He added: “While it is not unusual to see snow in March, the cold weather we have seen has been quite prolonged.
“The next period of wintry weather has some uncertainty at this stage regarding where the worst of the snow will be so it is essential to watch for updates to severe weather warnings.
“As always, we are working with different agencies to help keep Britain on the move, and to keep people safe and well.”
