HE has proved he has a talent for making money.

And now former television star and Pendle entrepreneur Azhar Siddique (35) is planning on putting his skills into action by running the Pennine Lancashire 10K in June.

Azhar, who appeared on BBC One’s “The Apprentice” last year, aims to raise as much money as possible for The Children’s Trust and a local charity. He will be visiting Pendle in the coming weeks to choose an organisation he feels most deserves support.

The former West Street Primary School and Park High student, who now lives in Manchester, is also in training for the Virgin London Marathon in April. He is currently able to run seven miles in approximately 54 minutes, and has completed a 16 mile challenge.

He said: “I have never run a marathon before but I have always worked out on a regular basis.

“It is great I can raise the profile of Pendle by doing the 10K and more importantly raise money for charity. I am quite a competitive individual as well.

“Anyone local to the area should register if they are able and fit enough. It is going to be a great day and the sun should be shining.

“I am expecting to see a few familiar faces, so that is exciting.”

The University of Manchester alumni, whose parents still live in West Street, Colne, is currently working on the final stages of the BIG Idea project — a self-funded business enterprise programme that helps young people across the North-West.

And the businessman, who recently helped to welcome “Queen of Shops” Mary Portas to Nelson, added that he is grateful to “The Apprentice” for the opportunities it has provided.

He said: “It has opened a lot of doors for me.”
