COLNE Legion’s Steve Martin secured a second Pendle Pool League Individual Knockout Final success, beating another former champion, Craig Franks of Golden Ball.

Frame one saw the players showing a healthy respect for each other, and it was Franks who had the first chance to forge a lead, but a failed attempt on black saw him well snookered when he returned to the table.

From the ensuing two shots, Martin clinched the frame to go one ahead.

Roles were reversed in frame two as Martin’s attempt at a clearance went awry and Franks stepped up to level at 1-1.

Frame three was a particularly cagey affair with each player struggling to develop an advantage.

Eventually Franks saw a chance and all went well until he missed a long black into the corner pocket.

Martin laid a great snooker but Franks escaped using three cushions and returned the favour, leaving Martin snookered.

Martin escaped, leaving Franks no shot on and a further safety bout ensued.

Eventually it was Martin who took a fine cut on black to gain the upper hand and lead 2-1.

Frame four saw Martin break and it was a great split with game on, but he soon fell out of position.

After a couple of shots, Martin regained the advantage, only to play a further poor positional shot with the winning line in sight.

More safety ensued but Franks failed to lay a snooker and Martin stepped in to take a simple finish and his second title.

Meanwhile, Colne Legion is hosting a weekend event over Saturday and Sunday, April 13th and 14th, with £1,000 in prize money up for grabs.
