The Colne director of England’s longest running furniture store has celebrated turning 90 with his family and closest friends.
Leslie Berry, who took over RH Berry & Son in 1952, spent Sunday with his three daughters Sheila Naughton, Jean Margison and Christine Greig, six grandchildren seven great-grandchildren, and friends, including Coun. Ann Kerrigan.
The active member of Ghyll Golf Club and keen gardener, who fought in the second world war, was treated to a new laptop, a steam cleaner and a cake in the shape of a golf course.
Daughter Christine said: “It was fun. The weather was fine, so the children could play out.
“My dad is good at playing with the children.”
R H Berry & Son, which is situated at the top of Windy Bank, was established in 1860.
The business has been passed down through the generations, and offers furniture, beds, carpet and flooring.
