Pendle Forest thirds beat Lytham in their must-win game on the coast to avoid relegation.

Cath Hutchinson netted twice, either side of a Dee McInnes strike, to earn a 3-0 win and secure another season in the Second Division.

Player of the match was Julie Portman.

Meanwhile, the first team need a point at home against Morpeth tomorrow to stay in the North First Division after a 2-2 draw with Newcastle.

Newcastle went ahead from a penalty corner, but Forest equalised after missing a penalty stroke, as Karen Nuttall forced the ball across the line in a goalmouth scramble.

They went ahead, before 15 minutes into the second half, Jane Kirkpatrick made a crucial save from a penalty flick to keep Forest in the lead.

However, Newcastle levelled 10 minutes from time from another penalty corner.

Player of the match was Deb Bythell, who worked tirelessly in defence.
