A 3-1 defeat for Pendle Forest in their crucial last match of the season against Morpeth leaves them in the bottom two, and facing relegation.
Forest started well, although a defensive error almost let Morpeth in, but for a smashing save by Sarah Towers. Morpeth clawed their way back into the game and converted a penalty corner just before half-time.
In the second half, Forest went in search of an equaliser, and they held possession, wating to seize their opportunity.
But the Morpeth keeper stopped everything they threw at her, and Morpeth scored a second penalty strike, before adding a further goal.
Morpeth added a further goal to put Forest’s hopes of a win, or even a draw, out of reach, with the only consolation a penalty flick, converted by Olivia Bythell, who received the players’ player of the season. Top scorer was Karen Nuttall.
Despite fantastic teamwork throughout the season, Forest face a waiting game.
