An open meeting to consider setting up a friends group for Greenberfield Locks and the Leeds and Liverpool Canal at Barnoldswick will be held on Tuesday at 6-30pm at the Rainhall Centre.
In the autumn, it was agreed between the Canal and Rivers Trust and interested volunteers to see if a group could be set up to look after the locks and canal through Barlick.
Some spontaneous voluntary work to dry-stone walls has already been witnessed.
Coun. David Whipp, who initiated the meeting, said: “Last year, the Barnoldswick in Bloom group carried out some work at the locks.
“I was very disappointed at the apparent neglect of one of Barnoldswick’s beauty spots.
“Anyone with an interest in keeping our town in tip top condition or with a particular interest in the canal is welcome to attend.”
A volunteer co-ordinator from the Canal and Rivers Trust will be at the meeting.
