A CCTV image of a man wanted in connection with an assault on a 16-year-old boy at Burnley bus station has been released by police in Burnley.

Officers are keen to trace the man in the picture in connection with the offence, which happened at 3-45pm on Thursday, April 25th.

Police say that the teenager was walking through Burnley bus station with a friend. A man has bumped into him and an exchange of words has occurred before the man slapped the 16-year-old in the face.

The boy has not suffered any lasting injuries but police are appealing for anyone that recognises the man in the CCTV image to come forward.

The man is described as being white, aged between 30 and 40 years old, 5ft. 8in. tall and of stocky build. He is also said to have been unkempt in appearance and was wearing black clothing.

PC Carla Martin said: “I’d urge anybody that knows the identity of this man to contact Lancashire Police.”

The police can be contacted on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number LC-20130425-1198.

People with information can also contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org. No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not have to go to court.
