Faithful friends from Trawden are gearing up to take part in the Bupa Great Manchester Run for the Alzheimer’s Society.
Ruth Crompton (46) and Ginny Jones (35), both of Colne Road, will be taking on the challenge on Sunday, May 26th.
The pair, sponsored by Trawden Forest Post Office, have seen family member’s affected by dementia, and are now hopeful they can help fund research to improve treatment and search for its cure.
They are training most mornings and complete a longer run every Sunday.
Ruth’s mum Elizabeth Fry died last year, having had dementia for 13 years, while Ginny’s uncle Donald has been living with the illness for the past four years.
Fashion enthusiast Ruth, who owns The Dressing Room, in Colne, said: “It is a charity close to home — we got a lot of help from the society. It is my way of saying thank you.”
To donate money to Ruth and Ginny pick up a sponsor form at Trawden Forest Post Office, in Church Street.
