As a backing singer to Ellie Goulding, she has had the pleasure of performing at the unforgettable wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

And now Pendle residents will get to hear her in action, as she once again takes to the stage at the New Inn, in Foulridge, over the Bank Holiday weekend. As part of the popular and contemporary local band Queen and Country, Hannah Hird will be part of two 45-minute sets at the Skipton Old Road inn on Sunday evening.

From 8pm, she and fellow members Sam, Teaspoon and Matt, will be giving audiences a taste of the group’s unique and harmonious sound. Plasterer Sam has just been signed by a Manchester record company.

Teaspoon, who works at Rolls-Royce, in Barnoldswick, said: “We do a lot of three part harmonies in our band — that’s our strength, and we really concentrate on that.

“Last time we played at the New Inn it was absolutely packed, and there was a good atmosphere.”

Hannah founded Queen and Country back in Summer 2010, after the members became friends through the Colne music scene.

Inspired by bands such as The Eagles and the softer side of country music, the group’s aim is to create a happy and joyful sound.

As well as singing, the band also play guitar, ukelele, viola, bass and harmonica, and regularly perform at weddings and gigs up and down the country.

Lindsey Bottomley, general manager at the New Inn, said: “Queen and Country perform a lot of well-known music. With it being a Bank Holiday, people will want to go somewhere on the Sunday evening and do something different, They are really good.”
