BURNLEY are beaten at St Mary's by a dominant Southampton side.
Goals from Adam Lallana and Billy Sharp were enough for the Saints as Burnley were outclassed by the promotion chasing Saints.
Southampton opened the scoring in just the seventh minute of play. Lallana getting his head on the end of Frazer Richardson cross.
The Saints could have doubled their lead minutes later through Rickie Lambert, but his well hit effort was saved by Grant in the Burnley goal.
Unfortunately for a below-par Burnley, Southampton did double their lead when Billy Sharp's shot after a wonderfully lofted ball from Lambert, hit Ben Mee and rolled into the Burnley net.
In truth Burnley never looked like coming back into the game, despite an improved performance in the second half, the Clarets never really created a chance of real quality as Southampton eased to victory.
