Police appeal after boy (14) assaulted in Nelson park

Police are appealing for information after teenage boy was assaulted in a Nelson park.

A report was made to officers that a 14-year-old boy had a sustained a serious head injury while in Walverden Park last Tuesday (May 28th) between 2pm and 3pm. Although the circumstances around exactly how he came by his injuries are unclear at this stage, officers are investigating the possibility he may have been assaulted and are appealing for information.

DC Ashley Johnston of Pennine CID said: “Exactly how the young boy has come about his injuries are unknown at this time and so we would be very keen to hear from anyone who may have been in the area at the time to contact us if they saw anything at all.”

In particular, detectives are keen to trace one person they believe was in the park at the time. He is described as being Asian, around 17 years old, 5ft. 8in. tall and of medium build. He had short black hair, strong eyebrows and a moustache and was wearing a dark hooded top.

People with information are asked to contact police by calling 101 and quoting log number LC-20130530-1143. No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court.
