Terror attack on Lithuanians: four Nelson men are accused

FOUR men have been charged by police after an incident in Nelson.

They are accused of two offences of false imprisonment, blackmail, Section 18 wounding, assault and threats to kill following the incident on Tuesday, May 28th.

Sarkis Muradjan (32) of Stafford Street, Nelson; Vismantas Vilkauss, (39) Stafford Street, Nelson; and brothers Darius Svedskas (33) and Dainus Svedskas (24), both from Castle Street, Nelson, all stand charged with six offences.

The charges follow an investigation into the physical and psychological abuse of two Lithuanian men.

The offences have taken place at an address in the town’s Castle Street.

All four men appeared before Pennine magistrates on Friday morning last week.

They were remanded to appear before Burnley Crown Court on the June 17th.

Three other men – aged between 26 and 56 – have been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Lancashire Constabulary is still looking into the incident and a spokesman has revealed: “This is an ongoing investigation and if anyone has any information, they are asked to contact police on 101.

“People with information can also contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, or on-line at Crimestoppers-uk.org.

“No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court.”
