A Colne couple who died following a road traffic collision on the A65 near Skipton have officially been named by police.
Stanley Shaw (83) and his wife Eileen Shaw (61), were both killed after their pale blue Hyundai i10 collided with a grey Skoda Octavia close to the Grassington roundabout at around 5-10pm on Sunday.
They had just passed Skipton Golf Course and were heading towards the roundabout when they hit the Skoda which was travelling in the opposite direction.
An inquest is expected to be opened and adjourned on Thursday.
The driver of the Skoda, an 84-year-old man from Addingham, suffered minor injuries in the collision. His passenger, an 80-year-old woman, also from Addingham, was seriously injured and was airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary. She remains in hospital in a stable condition.
Police in Craven are now appealing for witnesses to the incident, and are urging anybody who can help officers with their enquiries to step forward.
Information can be given to North Yorkshire Police by ringing 101, selecting option two, and asking for Traffic Constable Rick Harper or Skipton Roads Policing Group. Alternatively, emails can be sent to rick.harper@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk.
