Burnley and Pendle continued their winning start to the season with another high scoring win over visitors Hope Valley Hawks.
For the first 10 minutes neither side was able to make headway against some stern defence from both sides.
Reds captain Matt Crowley opened the scoring and the score was stretched soon after by some clever work by scrum half Will Holden. With the defence moving up, a deft chip was regathered by Holden who outpaced the covering defence to score out wide.
Adam Healey and Holden again made the score 22-0 before Hope Valley got on the scoreboard just before half-time.
After the break Marcus Farnworth converted a Shaye McCullogh try before Crowley went over to make it 34-6.
With the game in the bag, the home team pressed home the advantage and didn’t let up in the intensity of their play.
The lead was stretched further in the second half with tries from Chris Wall, Craig Wiseman and one for Luca Angelone on his debut to help Burnley and Pendle record an impressive 52-12 victory.
Next week Burnley and Pendle travel the short distance to Barnoldswick to take on West Craven Warriors in an intriguing local derby.
