Ten vintage Clarets kindly gave up their time to play golf at Gyhll and to help raise funds for the junior section last Friday.

It was a very successful afternoon, and each team of four had one Claret and three players with two scores to count.

The winners were former Clarets captain Jamie Hoyland with Brian Craddock, Derek Winder and Graham Wright.

Second were striker Liam Robinson with Bob Presland, Tony Lodge and Kevin Honeyman.

Both teams had 90 points.

The evening continued with a full programme of music, disco and food which was enjoyed by all.

Over £350 was raised for the juniors.

Meanwhile, at Colne Golf Club on Saturday, the June Medal was played.

The competition was won by Andrew Kellet with a score of 79-14-65 on the card from Howard Lonsdale, who shot 78-13-65.

Third, only a shot further adrift, was Mick Holt (92-26-66).

The gross prize went to John Collantine.

Still at Colne, and the EWGA Medal was won by Stella Kitson with a 95-27-68, one shot better than Joan Finley (93-24-69), with Irene Lonsdale (93-21-72) in third.

The Howard Rigg Golf Day at Nelson last month raised £1,600 for Pendleside Hospice.

The Howard Rigg Trophy Fourball was won by Chris Brindle, Jason Warwick, Bob Greaves and Keith Harrison with 120 points, one more than Jeff Bonsall, club captain David Thornber, Keith Sutcliffe and Chris Anderson, who were second on the card from Steve Emery, Alex Rickwood, John Duxbury and Alan Parkinson.

Howard would like to thank everyone who helped make the day a success.
