A spectacular new aerial assault course in Colne has proved the sky is the limit for thrill-seekers in the town.
The brand new Urban Altitude centre has opened to the public and hopes to attract daredevils from across East Lancashire
The vertigo-inducing high ropes course is the first of its kind in the country to be built in an urban area.
The outdoor pursuit features a 60m zip-wire, a Leap of Faith, Power-fan, Jacob’s Ladder and a climbing wall.
There are also high and low rope courses built around a 42ft tall main activity tower which looks out over the Pendle skyline.
Dozens of fearless youngsters were among the first to get the chance to try out the Urban Altitude adventure playground which was created by Pendle Leisure Trust and Alliance Leisure.
The Mayor of Pendle cut the ribbon at the official Urban Altitude opening which was attended by civic dignitaries, local councillors and youth groups.
Keith Folley, chairman of Pendle Leisure Trust, said: “It is a fantastic leisure facility. The aerial adventure course is quite unique with its town centre location and it will provide a totally different approach to sport and to fun.
“It continues the commitment to health, fitness and well-being provided by Pendle Leisure Trust.”
The trust’s Chief Executive Phil Storey, continued: “It’s fantastic that this unique outdoor activity has been created in Pendle and that its residents have something like this right on their doorstep.
“It certainly will be a facility that gets its users active, while having fun at the same time.”
Peter Hinde, manager of Urban Altitude, said: “Ours is the first of its kind in the country and is totally unique with its town centre location.
“Set high in an urban environment – hence the name, the high ropes are 28ft off the ground and the low ropes are 9ft.
“Urban Altitude will provide excitement and buzz and satisfy the hunger of any adrenalin junkie”
He added that the attraction was available to individuals, families and groups aged five and above.”
