Former England international James Beattie will take charge of his first game as Accrington Stanley boss against Nelson FC on Saturday.
The 35-year-old, who played as a striker for Southampton, Everton and Stoke City during his career, joined up with the League Two side in November last year in a player/coach capacity but took over the reins at the Crown Ground in May following the departure of Leam Richardson.
The pre-season friendly will take place at Victoria Park with kick-off at 3 p.m. and the club is hoping for a big attendance in a bid to boost manager Mark Fell’s war chest ahead of the new NWC First Division campaign.
The clash could also see one-time Claret Shay McCartan make his debut for Stanley following his release from Turf Moor.
* On Sunday, July 21st, from 11 a.m. onwards, Colne FC are having a paint fest and inviting friends, players, local councillors and local residents to join committee members to smarten up the outside of the XLCR Stadium by painting it green!
If you have a paintbrush and some time to spare, anyone is welcome to go along and join in with the refurbishment.
