A MAN assaulted in Nelson last month has died in hospital.
David Hutchinson (64) was assaulted near his home in Leeds Road, Nelson, between 10-30pm-11pm on Saturday, June 15th, after leaving walking to a nearby shop.
He was approached by someone who punched him, making him fall to the ground and hit his head on the pavement.
Although he initially returned home after the attack, Mr Hutchinson was found unconscious by his house-mate the next morning and taken to hospital.
He died at the Royal Preston Hospital yesterday.
A post mortem examination will now be carried out to establish the cause of death.
The investigation into the assault is continuing and a 16-year-old local youth was arrested on June 26th, at an address in Nelson on suspicion of wounding with intent. He remains on police bail.
