Work on a new care home in Colne will hopefully commence in October, it has been announced.
Last week we reported that planning permission had been granted to Yorkshire-based care home operator Silk Healthcare for a new 82-bed development in Gibfield Road.
The new building, which will be located on the former Boulsworth Residential Centre site, is expected to bring 100 full and part-time jobs to the area, and is expected to be completed by October 2014. Recruitment will begin next year.
The care home will also boast facilities, including spacious rooms, all with en-suite, a coffee lounge for residents and their families, and landscaped gardens.
Managing director at Silk Healthcare Angela Swift, who established the family run business back in 2009, said: “We are pleased that plans have been approved for our new home.
“After concerns were expressed about the size of our original proposal we undertook consultations with the local community and have reduced the scale of the building.”
