The number of unemployed claimants in Pendle in June was 1,873, or 4.5% of the economically active population aged 16 to 64.
The number of claimants is 265 lower than in June, 2012 and 61 lower than in May this year.
Pendle MP Andrew Stephenson, who last month hosted the Pendle Jobs and Apprenticeship Fair which was attended by over 1,200 people, said: “Unemployment nationally has now fallen eight months in a row and I am pleased to once again see unemployment fall in Pendle.
“I arranged the Pendle Jobs and Apprenticeship Fair at Colne Muni to give practical advice and help to those still out of work. The feedback from both employers and job seekers has been really positive and the event has hopefully helped a significant number of people.
“The Government still needs to do more to help people, but we are seeing real progress in getting people into work.”
