IT’S been non-stop success for a group of Pendle runners.
Competing on mixed terrain, battling through wind rain or shine, Pendle Athletics Club’s boys’ cross-country team continues to dominate in their field.
The intrepid athletes started commanding the North West scene in the summer of 2010 when they were victorious in the Lancashire trail race at Witton Park, Blackburn.
Since then they have scooped the county’s road relay championship and went on to reign supreme in the Red Rose cross country series, consisting of four races in different venues across the region, after finishing at the summit ahead of Blackburn.
A triumph over Preston also saw success in the fiercely contested Mid Lancashire League.
Meanwhile, the Lancashire road relay title was retained in the 2011/12 season, along with the North West relays championship in Liverpool soon after.
The Red Rose cross country league success was also followed up this winter, and now the team has already secured the Mid Lancs series this campaign with two races in Barrow and Leyland yet to run, leaving Liverpool and Preston to fight it out for the runners up spot.
Next season the boys will be aiming for similar success in the under 15s age category.
