A Colne church has taken a step closer to becoming a thriving community hub after being awarded £9,700 from Pendle Council’s Grants for Growth fund.
Holy Trinity Church will now be replacing its 49 pews with comfortable chairs in a bid to make a more versatile space for concerts, youth groups and other events.
According to parish development officer Lynne Mitchell, there are also plans to improve heating, lighting and toilet facilities at the Burnley Road site.
Pews need to be moved by September 1st to ensure work is completed by the end of the month.
They come in three sizes – 7ft long, 11ft long and 13.5ft long – and are now available to purchase for £80 each. Some have already been sold.
Removal and transportation needs to be arranged by the buyer.
