Pups and dogs are in for a real treat this month — as classes catering to their every needs are set to launch in Colne.

Lynn Southworth and her husband Paul are expanding their business “Dog Days”, formerly known as “Doggy Day Care and Dog Walking”, by hosting a variety of weekly canine classes at North Valley Community Centre.

The pair began puppy training classes at Salterforth Village Hall last year, offering one-to-one tuition and behaviour advice.

Due to its success, they have now decided to take their venture further — with classes beginning at the Birtwistle Avenue site from Tuesday, August 20th at 6pm.

As well as a “Puppy Socialisation and Life Skills Course”, there will also be more advanced courses for those wishing to take their dog training to a higher level.

Lynn, who is a full member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers, said: “If you can get your puppy used to mixing with other dogs in the first three to four months, it will get rid of all their fears. That’s the critical thing.

“It is my passion getting people out and about with their puppies, and so many people get the bug.

“We try to make the classes fun, while getting the owner to build a really good relationship with their dog.”

Lynn, who gained an Fd Degree in Canine Behaviour and Training at Bishop Burton College, will also be offering owners and their pets the chance to partake in the nationally recognised APDT “Good Companion Awards.”
