A dedicated friend is making plans to help two “tandem girls” reach their fund-raising target as part of birthday celebrations for her business.
Kayleigh James (25), of Calder Street, Colne, set up her own graphic design business Bit Graphic in October.
And to mark the milestone, the Blackburn College graduate is aiming to hold a charity event at the Fence Gate Inn on Friday, November 1st.
Her aim is to raise as much money as possible for Leeds Teaching Hospitals Charitable Foundation — after her friends Amy Greenall, of Moore Street. Colne, and Emily Mitchell, of Elm Close, Salterforth, completed a 127-mile tandem trek along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal last month.
The duo had been raising money for the foundation, where Amy’s dad John died in November. And with £3,700 already under their belt, Kayleigh is determined that she can help them get closer to their £5,000 goal.
The mum to one-year-old Anabelle and former Edge End High School pupil said: “The idea for the charity event came to mind when I just wanted to get everyone in one room for drinks, food, and entertainment, and to basically thank those who have helped me and to have a good time. I am going to be rebranding too, with a new website and a whole new look.
“In order to put together a fantastic event, where I aim to get 150-200 people attending, I’m looking for the help of other businesses, either local or those interested to sponsor me.
“In return, being in the type of business I’m in, I will heavily market these businesses on Facebook, on a custom built page for the event.
“The ‘tandem’ girls have worked hard so far so let’s get them to that all important, and impressive target.”
So far Kayleigh has been sponsored by Admiral Housewares, Delta Electrical Services, Mercer Electrical and Balloons by Design. She is also urging businesses to provide prizes for a raffle.
Responding to Kayleigh’s party plans, “tandem girl” Amy said: “Kayleigh has supported us quite a lot and it was Bit Graphic that designed our logo for ‘two girls on a tandem’, which was fantastic.
“We are really grateful for all Kayleigh’s done and hope the night is a success for Kayleigh’s relaunch as she really deserves it and has a great business. The plans she has in place sound like its going to be a really good night.”
