Students at Thomas Whitham Sixth Form are celebrating this year’s fantastic A-level results.
They achieved a record number of the top A* and A grades with an
unmatched number making it to the prestigious Oxbridge universities. 27% of all grades were either A* or A while there were 14 A* grades in maths alone – making Thomas Whitham Sixth Form the place to study mathematics in the county.
Former headteacher Stuart Smith skyped students with his congratulations, from his new home in Greece, and then praised both his students and staff saying: “We are thrilled that once again we are proving to be the place for students to study who are aiming for the very best Russell Group universities. Our superb support for Oxbridge entry has paid dividends this year but we are also equally proud of our outstanding inclusive ethos, highlighted by OFSTED in 2011, which will place us high in the value added rankings. A high overall pass rate of over 98%, coupled with 47% A*-B grades and 71% A*-C grades, making these the best results the school has ever had.
