STAFF at Hoseasons in Earby have chosen Pendleside Hospice to be the firm’s main charity for the next two years.

Since 2010, West Craven cancer support group Barnoldswick and Earby Bosom Friends has been supported by various fund-raisers and events run by the holiday company, receiving a total of £7,245.

Employees at Spring Mill voted which organisations they wanted to support through to 2014 and Pendleside Hospice, which cares for people with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses in the Pendle and Burnley area, emerged as their overwhelming choice.

A Valentine’s raffle has already raised £393.90 and the office is planning an Easter Fun Day to include games, competitions and an Easter Egg raffle. All proceeds will go towards Pendleside’s ongoing running costs, which come to an estimated £3.2 million a year.

Louisa Parkinson of The Hoseasons Group said: “The team here are incredibly passionate about so many charities in the community, but Pendleside Hospice was the clear favourite.

“Choosing a new charity partner every two years gives us the opportunity to make a real difference, whilst ensuring we rotate our time and efforts across a series of worthy causes in our area.”

Carl Barnacle, a fund-raiser at Pendleside Hospice, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be working with The Hoseasons Group. It’s great to have such a dedicated partner which is both prepared to commit for such a long period and driven by members of the community who are passionate about what we do.

“Hospices are about people helping people. You may never know these people, or their families, but ultimately you will know that it was you who cared enough to help.”
