Residents asked for opinions on Colne in survey

COLNE Connected, the town’s Market Town Partnership, thanks everyone who has taken the time to respond to its recent survey.

The responses so far have been “illuminating” and give the town’s volunteers a basis from which to develop the new action plan.

Public observation of the town is divided on whether or not it exhibits a strong sense of community partnership. A majority feel the town is not coping well with the economic downturn.

The quality of services and facilities is also felt to be below average and public involvement in community activities is below where it ought to be.

To pick out some interesting observations from returns in so far, there is general consensus that the level of road congestion is unacceptable, the provision of community halls for local activities is felt to be important by many and existing services and facilities need maintaining and improving rather than trying to develop new ones.

Do you agree? Colne Connected says it needs more ideas and the online facility to report your thoughts will close on January 2nd. Until then, it can be accessed and completed at: {http://www.feedbacksurveys.org.uk/colneconnected|www.feedbacksurveys.org.uk/colneconnected}

Colne Connected - which covers the villages around Colne was well as the town itself - suggests: “Please find a spare minute over Christmas to contribute to this new action plan which will then direct the volunteers over the next five years.

“Even better, offer to make yourself available as one of our volunteers by adding your name and contact details at the end. Your commitment can be as large or small as you wish.”

Hard copies of the survey will also be available in the public library until January 2nd and these can be handed back to library staff when completed.

Finally, the volunteers at Colne Connected wish everyone a very happy Christmastime and they look forward to seeing an excellent turnout at their next Full Partnership meeting at the Town Hall on Wednesday, January 18th, starting at 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome.
