LAMB B have effectively won the Nelson and Disatrict Semi-Snooker League First Division title as they now hold a six-point lead at the top with one game to play after a 3-2 away win over Briercliffe.
Lamb A let things slide and drop to fourth place after a disastrous 5-0 loss at home to Paradise A. Worsthorne move into second spot after a 3-2 away win over St Andrew’s, who stay unchanged in third position. Elsewhere Brierfield Liberal took a 3-1 lead up at the Gravel, where Peter “Prof” Hunt played a blinding final frame and narrowly beat Reece Payne to pull a frame back for Poultry B. Poultry A, however, had better fortune and came away from Old Band with a 4-1 win which keeps them out of the drop zone, while Alexandra were back to winning ways and secured a 3-2 home win over Dressers E.
In the Second Division, Carters A remain at the top with a two-point lead after they gained a 3-2 away win over Shorthomers B, for whom Peter Bennett had a run of 24.
Paradise B had it all to do at home to Byerden House and came good with a 4-1 win to keep them in second place just two points behind.
Old Band B stay in third place after a 4-1 away win over Molly Rigby’s B, and White Lea Head are unchanged in fourth spot despite a 4-1 thrashing away to Dressers D.
There were also 3-2 away wins for Nelson Golf Club and St Andrew’s B against Liberal C and David Street A respectively.
In the Third Division, Burnley Miners are this years winners as they have an 11-point lead with only two games to play after a 4-1 away win over Nelson Poultry D.
Old Band C stay in second place despite losing 3-2 away to Shorthomers C, who move into third position, while Nick Hillary had a run of 42 and was the only winner for Carters D in their 4-1 home defeat at the hands of an in-form Molly Rigby’s outfit.
Down at New Brown Street Lamb D went into a 4-0 lead, but veteran John Harrison was unable to get the whitewash as Noel Kippax just pipped him on the colours to pull a frame back for Dressers C.
Dressers B fared much better and left Church Street with a 4-1 win over Lamb C, with Andy McCarrick having a run of 68, and over at Foulridge Social Club, the match ended 3-2 to a visiting David Street side.
