PENDLE Forest extended their unbeaten run to three games as they entertained Wakefield on Saturday.

The game promised to be tough, as Forest had lost to the Yorkshire side 2-0 earlier in the season.

The game quickly descended into a midfield battle, with Wakefield slightly on top.

Forest did have an early opportunity when Dani Atherton hit a promising ball into the D, which Cathy Waters (pictured) just failed to connect with.

Although Wakefield had a lot of the possession in the first quarter of the game, they failed to create any clear opportunities, and this started to frustrate them.

Forest started to pass the ball around midfield, and for the rest of the first half neither team had any shots on goal, resulting in the score being 0-0 at half-time.

Forest started the second half well, and after two bad stick tackles, the opposition found themselves down to nine players.

Forest pushed an extra player into attack and had a lot of possession, but again could not turn this into goal scoring opportunities.

With Wakefield returned to their full contingent, they started to exert their authority on the game and Forest found themselves pushed deeper into their own defending half.

Jayne Kirkpatrick, in the Forest goal made some good saves from short corners to keep Wakefield at bay, and earned herself the player of the match award.

Forest could have nicked all three points right at the death when a short corner fell to Atherton, who saw her shot go wide of the post for the match to end 0-0.

Final Score: Pendle Forest 0, Wakefield 0
