A TAXI driver has been cleared of molesting a lone woman passenger in his cab.
Muhammad Jamshed was found not guilty of sexual assault by a Burnley Crown Court jury after a three-day trial.
The defendant (33), of Clover Hill Road, Nelson, who had denied the allegation, was discharged from the dock by Judge Jonathan Gibson.
The young woman had claimed Mr Jamshed had fondled her leg, stroked her stomach and put his hand down her bra after inviting her into the front seat of his taxi after her friend had been dropped off.
The defendant, who was working for City Cabs in Burnley and at the time had been a cabbie for seven years, said her allegations were untrue and nothing happened.
He told police the woman had asked to sit in the front. He said they had argued over the fare and suggested she had made up the allegations because he had told her he would take her to the police station if she did not pay up.
